The First Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries was marked by mechanical production and created industry, urbanization, and middle class skilled workers. The Second Industrial Revolution from the late 19th century to the early 20th century was characterized by science and mass production. This revolution ushered in the modern world with creation of the telephone, light bulb and the combustion engine.  The Third Industrial Revolution, or the digital revolution, in the late 20th century moved from analog electronic and mechanical devices to pervasive digital technology that dramatically disrupted industries.  For example, we saw the invention and advancement of the computer, the internet and information and communication technology.
